Privacy Policy

Placeholders need filling before this is published. Every item in
[SQUARE BRACKETS] is a fact only you can supply: the legal entity, its address, and the
contact mailbox. This document was drafted against what the website measurably does, but it has not
been reviewed by a lawyer. Have counsel read it before it goes live.
This policy explains what happens to information when you visit opusvectis.com (the "site"), which is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("Opus Vectis", "we", "us"), [ENTITY TYPE, e.g. a Delaware limited liability company], with its principal place of business at [STREET ADDRESS, BOSTON, MA, ZIP].
The short version: the site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and does not track you. The only information we receive is what you type into the contact form and the ordinary server logs our host keeps. There is no advertising, no profiling, and nothing is sold.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you enter. Nothing else in the form is collected, and no field is prefilled from anywhere.
Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider records standard server logs for every request: IP address, timestamp, the page requested, referring page, and browser user agent. These are generated by the act of serving the page and are used for security and reliability, not for analytics or profiling.
What we do not collect. We do not set cookies. We do not use localStorage or any other storage on your device. We run no analytics, no advertising tags, no pixels, no session recording, and no fingerprinting. We do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not track you across other websites.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
This site sets no cookies of any kind, and stores nothing on your device. That is why you were not asked to accept any: there is nothing to consent to. If that ever changes, we will ask for consent before setting anything that is not strictly necessary, and this policy will be updated first.
Your browser may cache the site's own fonts, images, and video, as it would for any website. That is ordinary browser caching, controlled by you through your browser settings, and it sends nothing to us.
3. Who else receives your information
The site loads no third-party scripts, fonts, or images. Fonts are served from our own domain specifically so that visiting the site does not disclose your IP address to a font provider. Two parties are nonetheless involved in operating it:
| Recipient | What they receive | When | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages) |
IP address, request metadata, user agent | Every page request | Hosting, content delivery, and protection against attacks and abuse |
| Web3Forms | The name, email address, and message you submit | Only when you submit the contact form | Delivering that message to our inbox |
Both act as processors on our behalf. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not disclose it for anyone else's marketing. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
The site links out to other websites, including our portfolio companies and LinkedIn. Following a link is your choice, and once you do, that site's own privacy policy governs. We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, their practices.
4. Why we are allowed to process it (legal bases)
Where the UK or EU GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for server logs, to keep the site available, secure, and functioning.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for the contact form. You choose to write to us; you can stop at any time by not sending the message.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) where we are required to retain or disclose something.
5. How long we keep it
- Contact form messages: kept for as long as needed to answer you and to maintain a record of the correspondence, then deleted. Our target is [RETENTION PERIOD, e.g. 24 months].
- Server logs: retained by our host under their own retention schedule, typically a short rolling window measured in days.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent. Because we collect so little, in most cases this amounts to the contact message you sent us.
If you are in the EU or UK: you may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. If you are in California: you have the rights to know, delete, and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, so we offer no "Do Not Sell or Share" link because there is nothing to opt out of.
To exercise any right, email [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL]. We will respond within the time the applicable law requires. We may need to verify your identity first.
7. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers operate globally, so your information will be processed in the United States and potentially other countries. Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA or UK, we rely on our providers' Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. We keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small, which is the most reliable security measure available to us. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
10. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no accepted standard for responding to it. We do not track visitors in the first place, so the signal makes no difference to how the site behaves.
11. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, in particular if we ever begin collecting more than we do today, we will make that clear on the site before the change takes effect.
